A tiger strayed out of the Sariska Tiger Reserve and reached Rajasthan’s Alwar district on Tuesday night, triggering panic among residents and bringing traffic on the Alwar-Jaipur road to a halt.
The tiger was spotted near the government postgraduate college in Thanagazi town. Around 9 pm, motorists saw the big cat crossing the road and stopped their vehicles. Several people also began recording videos of the tiger.

After being alerted about the tiger’s movement, the Sariska administration and police swung into action. The Alwar-Jaipur road was closed and vehicles were diverted through alternate routes as a precautionary measure.
Police personnel reached the spot and prevented people and villagers from approaching the tiger. Residents were advised to remain in safe places and exercise caution as the animal was moving close to populated areas.
Authorities also urged residents to avoid morning and evening walks until the situation becomes clearer and to venture out only after daylight.
A team from the Sariska forest department reached the area to monitor the tiger’s movement. Forest officials are keeping a close watch on the animal and tracking its movements to determine whether it heads back towards the forest.
The tiger’s presence near Thanagazi has caused concern among residents in the town and nearby villages. Police, forest officials and the Sariska administration are continuing to monitor the situation and have alerted villages around the area.
