The Cine & TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA) has responded to allegations of irregularities surrounding the organisation, with its current leadership seeking to put its position on record. At a press interaction attended by office-bearers and members, President Poonam Dhillon and General Secretary Padmini Kolhapure rejected the claims and maintained that the association’s finances and functioning are governed by transparency and constitutional rules.

The media interaction came in response to recent statements by some former members, which the association described as presenting a one-sided account. Poonam Dhillon said allegations made by television actor Upasana Singh were “completely baseless and false”, adding that every penny raised by CINTAA was accounted for and reached its intended beneficiary.
“Every penny raised is fully accounted for and reaches its rightful beneficiary. Not a single rupee is used for personal gain,” Dhillon said. She added that the association had “zero tolerance for anything illegal or unconstitutional” and maintained that its records speak for themselves.
Padmini Kolhapure echoed Dhillon’s position, saying the allegations were “entirely untrue and without basis”. She said funds raised by the association were handled responsibly and directed towards the people and causes they were intended for.
The office-bearers also addressed concerns over the freezing of CINTAA’s bank account, saying the organisation was following its constitution and working through the required paperwork to resolve the issue.
“We are going ahead by the constitution rules and regulations, following every step carefully so that we do not go wrong at any point,” Dhillon and Kolhapure said in a joint statement. They acknowledged that the situation had created hurdles in CINTAA’s day-to-day functioning but said efforts were underway to resolve them.
CINTAA leaders on body’s priorities
The leadership also reiterated its focus on the welfare of CINTAA members, particularly those requiring financial and professional support. They said the association would continue to function within its constitutional framework while working to restore smooth operations.
Poonam Dhillon, Padmini Kolhapure and members from both the earlier and current elected lists also maintained that they were united in dealing with the situation and would seek to resolve it through the organisation’s rules and legal processes.
The leadership further said CINTAA had the right to conduct its meetings legally and expressed concern that the ongoing controversy had affected the image of the organisation.
“Though this mudslinging controversy has put this long-standing CINTAA in a bad light, which should not have happened,” they said, adding that their focus would remain on doing “good for our members, especially the needy ones.”
CINTAA said its priority remained protecting the rights, interests and dignity of artistes while preserving the credibility and legacy of the organisation.
