A man who had given up hope of ever seeing his lost driving license again was left pleasantly surprised when an unexpected courier arrived at his doorstep, revealing that a complete stranger had quietly mailed it back to him without asking for anything in return.

X user Ankit Pandey shared the heartwarming experience on his account, explaining how a simple act of honesty restored his faith in people.

In his post, Ankit said he had misplaced his driving license a few days earlier and searched everywhere before accepting that it was gone for good. To his surprise, a courier reached his home days later containing the licence.

He discovered that a woman had found it, carefully packed it and sent it back using his address, expecting nothing in return. The only details she included were her name and email address.

Since he had no way to contact her through a phone number or UPI, he sent her a Rs 501 Flipkart gift card as a small token of appreciation. Moments later, the woman emailed him a screenshot of the gift card and asked, “What’s this?”

After he explained it was simply his way of saying thank you, she accepted the gesture. Reflecting on the incident, Ankit wrote that the woman did not know him and owed him nothing, yet still chose to do the right thing.

He ended his post by asking others whether they would return someone’s wallet, phone or driving license if they found it.

The post prompted many people to share similar experiences of unexpected honesty. Several users recalled losing wallets or important documents that were eventually returned to them through couriers or by strangers who went out of their way to help.

Others said such stories were reassuring reminders that acts of kindness still exist despite the negativity often seen online. Many also said they hoped they would do the same if they ever found someone else’s belongings, arguing that small gestures like these can leave a lasting impact on both the giver and the receiver.
